Chad Oppenheim's Villa Allegra Miami: A Tropical-Modern Marvel Listed for $33 Million
Architect Chad Oppenheim's personal creation, the iconic Villa Allegra in Miami, originally crafted two decades ago, is now on the market for an impressive $33 million. This tropical-modern marvel, boasting Oppenheim's signature touch, is listed by Official’s Oren Alexander and Tal Alexander.
Completed in 2003, this striking residence hosted illustrious gatherings, attracting prestigious brands like Audi and Ferrari. Notably, Oppenheim also organized a fundraiser for the Wolfsonian-FIU museum in Miami Beach. Cinema enthusiasts might recognize Villa Allegra from its cameo appearance in Michael Mann's 2006 film, Miami Vice, starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.
According to Oppenheim, in a 2014 interview with The New York Post, Director Michael Mann found our home to embody a fresh aspect of Miami. It was thrilling as the show played a role in my decision to move here initially.
In 2001, Oppenheim acquired the Sunset Islands lot for $1 million and invested $5 million in construction. Over time, the property underwent extensive renovations. During the pandemic, Oppenheim shared with Mansion Global that he dedicated an extra $6 million to enhance the residence, opting for a palette featuring soft creams and blush tones complemented by natural elements like walnut and sandstone, creating a space with organic shapes and luxurious textures.
Recognized for his dedication to sustainability and inviting minimalist design, Oppenheim integrated numerous eco-conscious elements into the residence. Emphasizing cross-ventilation over air conditioning and employing solar panels for the pool and hot water supply showcase his commitment. The sleek, contemporary structure is enveloped by a garden of indigenous greenery envisioned by acclaimed landscape architect Raymond Jungles. An impressive rain-fed reflection pool adorns the entrance, while at the rear, the property boasts 80 linear feet of waterfront space.
Spanning approximately 6,000 square feet, this residence boasts six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The outdoor space encompasses a swimming pool and two boat docks capable of hosting a 75-footer. Among the standout features are a library/media room concealed by a secret bookcase door, a towering 25-foot outdoor shower, and the luxurious primary suite. The suite is lavishly appointed, featuring a private travertine terrace complete with a soaking tub and seating area.
Establishing his namesake firm in 1999, Oppenheim now operates design studios in both Miami and Basel, Switzerland. Throughout his career, he's contributed to numerous distinguished projects, notably Ten Museum Park in South Florida. His portfolio extends to crafting filmmaker Michael Bay's Los Angeles residence and collaborating with Pharrell Williams on a youth center.
